THOMAS WEISER of Padua
PAINTING & DRAWING AS PERFECTION

 A Short Biography

I began painting and drawing at the age of eleven. At fifteen and sixteen, I deepened my artistic training by attending seminars with Prof. Ernst Fuchs and Wolfgang Männer, whose influence had a lasting impact on my development.

In 1978, I presented my first solo exhibition as part of the 100th anniversary celebrations of my academic secondary school (AHS). Prior to that, I took part in the Vienna Free Art Fair at the Künstlerhaus, where I gained my first exhibition experience.

After completing my military service, I was given the opportunity to assist with the restoration of oil paintings and picture frames at the Museum of Military History. This work proved to be particularly instructive, as it not only taught me practical craftsmanship techniques but also provided a deep understanding of which mistakes to avoid during the painting process.

I subsequently attended the graphic design class at the Vienna Art School. At the same time, I worked in advertising design for the Rennbahnexpress. The stark contrast between academic instruction and the demands of professional practice ultimately led me to end my studies there. During this period, I produced numerous nude and animal drawings, which I created on a regular basis.

Further inspiration in drawing came from life and portrait drawing courses taught by Mag. Herbert Pill at the Vienna Urania. My early works were strongly influenced by my enthusiasm for Prof. Ernst Fuchs and Fantastic Realism. To this day, realism plays a central role in my artistic work and forms the foundation of my visual language.

Since 2018, I have been a member of the professional assosiation "Bildender Künstler Österreichs".
